These Terms & Conditions govern your access to and use of Recipe Room, including our app, website, accounts, profiles, photos, film simulation recipes, Recipe Analyser, camera-transfer tools, camera settings, collections, community features, and any paid recipe features we make available.
By creating an account, uploading content, buying or selling recipes, or otherwise using Recipe Room, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Recipe Room.
About Recipe Room
Recipe Room is a photography platform for sharing photos, film simulation recipes, camera settings, and related creative work. Recipes may include settings, sample images, descriptions, tags, collections, and community discussion.
Recipe Room is operated in the United Kingdom by Declan Cowen, trading as Recipe Room.
Recipe Room may provide tools that read embedded settings from an original photo, save a private analysis, pre-populate a Recipe, check camera compatibility, or send Recipe settings to a supported camera custom slot. Availability depends on the file, camera, firmware, mobile platform, connection, and supported-setting matrix.
Accounts
- You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure.
- You may not impersonate another person, misrepresent your identity, or create accounts to evade enforcement, restrictions, suspension, termination, or refusal of service.
- You must be at least 13 years old, or older if the law where you live requires a higher minimum age.
- Recipe Room processes personal information needed to create accounts and provide requested features as described in our Privacy Policy. If required information is not provided, the relevant account or feature may not work.
- Recipe Room may review account, profile, content, activity, support, purchase, sale, receipt, refund, payout, moderation, report, and relevant message records. This happens only where it is needed to operate the service, investigate disputes, prevent abuse, protect users, respond to safety issues, or enforce these Terms.
Your content
You keep any rights you have in the photos, original descriptions, captions, comments, and other original content you upload or create on Recipe Room. Recipe Room does not own your personal information or your original content. Publishing a particular combination of camera or film-simulation settings does not give you exclusive ownership of those settings or prevent another person from using or independently arriving at the same settings.
You grant Recipe Room a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, resize, display, publish, distribute, promote, moderate, and otherwise use your content as needed to operate, improve, protect, and promote Recipe Room. This license includes the right to make your public content available to other users and visitors.
You are responsible for your content. You must have all rights and permissions needed to upload, publish, sell, license, or share it.
Unsaved Recipe Analyser results and saved Analyzed Recipes are private. Recipe Room may process and store them only as needed to provide the requested feature, maintain your private saved analysis, protect the service, and comply with law. They are not published unless you separately choose to create and publish a Recipe or Post.
Recipe originality and copying
Individual camera settings and combinations of settings are available for anyone to use. Similar or identical settings may be reached independently, and similarity alone is not plagiarism, theft, or proof that one user copied another. Copyright and other intellectual-property rights may still protect original photos, written descriptions, branding, or other qualifying material included with a recipe.
Recipe Room nevertheless requires honest source attribution as a condition of using the service. If an existing Recipe Room recipe was your starting point, you must use the available Community or Fork feature instead of manually recreating it and presenting it as a Custom recipe.
- If you keep the source recipe's settings unchanged, publish it as a Community recipe. It may keep the source recipe's name. Keeping that name is sufficient credit under these Terms. Recipe Room may also show the source recipe or creator where the feature supports it, but you do not have to tag the creator. A Community recipe may not be sold.
- If you use an existing recipe as your starting point and adapt its settings, publish it as a Forked recipe. A fork must not use the source recipe's exact name, although it may retain a recognisable part of that name. A Forked recipe may not be sold.
- Adding your own title, description, tags, or photos does not turn a Community or Forked recipe into a Custom recipe or make it eligible for sale.
You must not manually publish a recipe as Custom using the exact name of an existing Recipe Room recipe in order to present or sell it as your own. This applies even if you change a setting. It is a violation of these Terms whether or not the settings or name are protected by copyright.
If you believe another user has copied your recipe or is presenting it as their own, report the recipe in the app or follow the process in our Reporting and Appeals guide.
If a user reports that a recipe has been copied, Recipe Room may investigate. We may remove content, restrict distribution, pause sales, withhold payouts, reduce visibility, suspend access, or take other action if we believe the content violates these Terms, infringes rights, harms the community, or creates legal or platform risk.
Selling a recipe that you copied from a purchased recipe, Community recipe, Forked recipe, or another creator's work is a breach of these Terms. Repeated, deliberate, deceptive, or commercial violations may result in account restriction or a permanent ban. We are not required to disclose all evidence, investigation details, or enforcement reasons, especially where doing so could affect user safety, privacy, fraud prevention, or platform integrity.
Recipe Analyser helps read metadata; it does not prove authorship, originality, ownership, or permission. You must have the right to upload and analyse the selected photo, and you remain responsible for reviewing detected settings before saving, publishing, selling, or using them.
Community rules
You agree not to use Recipe Room to:
- Harass, threaten, abuse, shame, bully, or target another person.
- Post unlawful, hateful, sexually exploitative, violent, defamatory, invasive, or otherwise harmful content, including any content that exploits, endangers, or sexualises a child.
- Upload content that infringes copyrights, trademarks, privacy rights, publicity rights, or other rights.
- Spam, manipulate engagement, scrape content, automate abusive activity, or interfere with the service.
- Upload malware, attempt unauthorized access, probe security systems, or disrupt Recipe Room.
- Mislead users about recipe ownership, paid recipe access, camera settings, affiliations, endorsements, or identity.
- Use Recipe Room for illegal, fraudulent, deceptive, or harmful activity.
Illegal content and how we deal with it
Recipe Room lets people post content and message each other, which makes us a user-to-user service under the Online Safety Act 2023. We take that seriously, and this section explains what we do about it.
Some content is not just against our rules but against the law. That includes child sexual abuse material, terrorist content, threats and harassment, content that encourages suicide or serious self-harm, hate offences, fraud, and the sale of illegal goods. None of it is welcome here and none of it is tolerated.
We assess the risk of illegal content appearing on Recipe Room and keep that assessment under review. We also make it easy to tell us when something is wrong: you can report any Post, Recipe, comment, message, or account from within the app, and you do not need an account to email us. When a report comes in we review it, and where content is illegal we remove it and take action on the account behind it. Where the law requires it, or where someone is at risk, we refer the matter to the relevant authority.
You can report illegal content, or complain about a decision we have made, by emailing safety@reciperoom.io. Our Safety Standards explain how reports are handled and what happens next, and Moderation and account enforcement below sets out how to appeal.
Moderation and account enforcement
This section sets out what Recipe Room can do when content or conduct causes a problem. The powers below are deliberately broad so that we can act quickly on safety, fraud, and legal risk. What you can expect if action is taken on your account, including case references and appeals, is set out further down.
We may review, remove, hide, demote, limit, or restrict content at any time. We may also suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts at any time if we believe conduct violates these Terms, harms users, creates legal risk, creates security risk, affects platform integrity, or is otherwise inappropriate for Recipe Room.
Recipe Room may ban, suspend, or restrict an account for any reason permitted by law. We are not required to give advance notice or provide a detailed reason for enforcement action.
Recipe Room may refuse service, deny access, block account creation, or prevent continued use by specific users where we believe they have acted fraudulently, abusively, unlawfully, deceptively, or in a way that creates safety, security, legal, payment, creator, buyer, or platform-integrity risk. This applies even if the user attempts to return through a new account, different login method, different device, or different identity.
Recipe Room may provide tools to report content, report users, block users, hide content, or limit interactions. You agree not to misuse reporting, appeals, blocking, or moderation tools.
Hiding content, showing fewer similar posts, muting an account, and blocking an account are personal controls that change your own experience. These controls generally do not create a moderation report. Blocking may stop accounts from following, viewing, or interacting with each other where the relevant feature is available.
Reports must be made honestly and in good faith. We generally do not disclose a reporter's identity to the reported user, but we may disclose information where required by law or where reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, security, or legal proceedings. We may be unable to disclose the detailed outcome of a report because of privacy, safety, legal, or security obligations.
If a report, safety issue, abuse issue, illegal activity, dispute, or suspected Terms violation involves private chats or direct messages, Recipe Room may review relevant message context as part of the investigation and enforcement process.
Depending on the circumstances, Recipe Room may find no violation, request a correction, remove or restore content, issue a warning, temporarily restrict an account, restrict an account indefinitely while a concern is reviewed, or permanently ban an account. A warning will normally be considered before restriction or a permanent ban, but severe abuse, safety risks, fraud, repeated violations, legal requirements, or attempts to evade enforcement may result in immediate action.
Where reasonably appropriate, an affected user will receive a case reference, the action taken, the reason for the action, its duration where applicable, and any available appeal instructions. We may limit the information provided where disclosure could create a safety, privacy, legal, fraud, or security risk.
Only an eligible permanent ban may be appealed. An eligible permanently banned account may submit one appeal. Recipe Room may accept the appeal and restore access, partially accept it and replace the permanent ban with an indefinite restriction, or reject it and maintain the permanent ban. Temporary and indefinite restrictions cannot be appealed. Once a permanent-ban appeal has been decided, the appeal decision is final and no further appeal is available. Recipe Room reserves the right to maintain its original decision where the appeal does not provide sufficient reason to change it. This does not limit any complaint, appeal, or other rights you may have under applicable law.
Paid recipes, purchases, and sales
If Recipe Room enables paid recipe sales, the following terms apply:
- A purchase gives the buyer personal, non-exclusive access to the purchased recipe. It does not transfer ownership of the creator's content unless expressly stated.
- A buyer may manually enter or, where supported, transfer a purchased Recipe to a compatible camera for personal use. This does not permit the buyer to republish, resell, share, or distribute the Recipe or its associated materials.
- Paid recipe purchases are sales of digital content. Once a purchased recipe, settings, sample images, description, collection, or related materials are made available to you, the digital content has been delivered.
- Except where required by law or by an applicable app store or payment provider policy, paid recipe purchases are final and non-refundable after delivery. This is because recipe settings and related materials can be viewed, copied, written down, saved, or used in a camera after access is granted, even if a buyer later says they will not use them.
- Recipe Room may make refund exceptions on a case-by-case basis at our discretion, but we are not required to do so unless required by law or by an applicable app store or payment provider policy.
- Buyers may not resell, share, publish, copy, leak, or repackage purchased recipes or associated photos and settings.
- Creators may only sell eligible Custom recipes and photos they own or have permission to sell. Community recipes, Forked recipes, purchased recipes, or recipes copied or derived from a known source may not be sold as paid transactional goods.
- Payments, refunds, chargebacks, platform fees, app store fees, processing costs, taxes, and payout timing may be handled by payment processors, payout providers, app stores, tax providers, or other service providers. If purchases are made through Apple, Google, or another app store, the app store's payment, refund, tax, subscription, and account rules may also apply.
- Recipe Room generally does not need or receive full payment card numbers, CVV codes, bank login credentials, or buyer home or billing addresses for normal recipe purchases. Payment processors, payout providers, app stores, and tax providers may handle sensitive payment, billing, tax, identity, and payout information under their own terms and privacy policies.
- Recipe Room may receive and review limited transaction metadata where that is needed to operate paid recipe features, preserve buyer access, protect creators and buyers, handle disputes, and enforce these Terms. This can include payment, receipt, refund, chargeback, access, tax, payout, eligibility, verification, country, currency, and compliance information.
- Recipe Room may quote recipe prices and related commercial pricing values in US dollars unless we expressly state otherwise. Recipe Room may use British pounds sterling as its operating, settlement, or accounting base currency.
- Transactions may be displayed, processed, paid, settled, paid out, recorded, or reconciled in other currencies depending on the buyer's location, creator's location, app store, payment provider, payout provider, bank, tax rules, and Recipe Room's internal accounting requirements.
- Where conversion is needed, it may happen at checkout, payment processing, payout, settlement, reconciliation, accounting, or another stage. The rate applied may be an exchange rate, a conversion rule, an app store pricing tier, or a rate set by a payment, payout, admin, bank, or accounting provider.
- Because exchange rates and provider pricing rules can change, local prices, proceeds, fees, taxes, payout amounts, and accounting values may differ from the US dollar quoted amount and may change from day to day or transaction to transaction.
- Recipe Room's transaction economics may include a platform fee, app store fee where applicable, Recipe Room commission, payment processing costs, taxes, currency costs, or other charges shown or described in our pricing structure. We do not charge separate buyer fees or seller fees unless our pricing structure expressly says otherwise.
- Recipe Room commission and platform-related fee calculations may be based on the US dollar quoted sale value before platform fees, app store fees, payment processing costs, taxes, currency costs, or similar deductions, unless our pricing structure states otherwise.
- Recipe Room does not necessarily charge VAT on paid recipe transactions. If VAT or a similar sales tax is charged, it will be calculated on the local taxable transaction amount after currency conversion, unless applicable law or the relevant app store, payment provider, payout provider, tax provider, or other service provider requires a different method.
- Taxes and currency costs are not included in recipe sale value. Sales are treated as excluding taxes, currency conversion costs, and similar jurisdiction-specific charges unless we expressly state otherwise. If Recipe Room starts charging VAT or materially changes how VAT or similar sales taxes are handled, we will notify affected customers by email, in the app, at checkout, or by another reasonable method.
- Fees, commissions, taxes, currency costs, payout calculations, payout thresholds, payout timing, supported payout countries, and pricing structures can vary, and may change over time. What applies to you may depend on your jurisdiction, country, region, currency, and tax treatment, on provider requirements, or on where the sale is made or processed. If we materially change Recipe Room platform fees, commission rates, or other fees charged by Recipe Room, we will notify affected customers before the change takes effect where required by law or by another reasonable method.
- Creators may need to complete payout, tax, identity, anti-fraud, or other onboarding checks before receiving payouts.
- We may delay, withhold, reverse, or cancel payouts where needed for refunds, chargebacks, suspected copying, fraud, legal compliance, tax, sanctions screening, disputes, or violations of these Terms.
- We may retain purchase records, sale records, receipts, order identifiers, refund records, tax records, payout records, and related metadata as proof of purchase and for legal, accounting, tax, safety, and dispute purposes.
- If a recipe has been sold or purchased, the recipe title, recipe settings, associated photos, descriptions, and other materials needed to prove the transaction and preserve buyer access may remain even if the creator later deletes their account.
Privacy and deletion
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and how account deletion works.
When you request account deletion, Recipe Room will delete or disable your account and remove personal information from active systems where reasonably possible. Deletion does not apply to information we must or reasonably need to keep for completed purchases and sales, receipts, buyer access, tax, accounting, refunds, chargebacks, fraud prevention, disputes, legal obligations, security, moderation, backups, and enforcement of these Terms.
Recipe Room intellectual property
Recipe Room, our name, logos, branding, designs, software, interfaces, systems, and non-user content are owned by Recipe Room or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, scrape, or use them except as allowed by these Terms or with our written permission.
Copyright and takedown requests
If you believe content on Recipe Room infringes your copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights, contact us at support@reciperoom.io with enough information for us to identify the content and review your request.
We may remove or restrict allegedly infringing content, disable access, notify the user who posted it, request more information, restore content where appropriate, or terminate repeat infringers where required or permitted by law.
Feedback
You can send product ideas, bug reports, customer experience suggestions, and other feedback through our official channels, including feedback.reciperoom.io, feedback@reciperoom.io, support email, in-app prompts, surveys, or other channels we identify as official.
Feedback is voluntary and is not confidential unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing. By sending feedback through any official Recipe Room channel, you grant Recipe Room a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable license to use, copy, modify, publish, distribute, implement, commercialise, and otherwise act on that feedback for any purpose, without restriction, payment, credit, approval, or other obligation to you.
This does not transfer ownership of your personal information or your original content. It means Recipe Room can decide whether and how to use feedback, including by building, improving, changing, or removing features based on it, without owing compensation or recognition.
Third-party services
Recipe Room may rely on third-party providers for authentication, hosting, databases, storage, email, analytics, payments, app stores, customer support, and other services. Third-party services may have their own terms and privacy policies.
Disclaimers
Recipe Room is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available at all times.
Recipe Room is currently in beta. That means some features are still being tested and may change, behave unexpectedly, or be withdrawn, and that occasional bugs, downtime, and data loss are possible. We take reasonable care to avoid all of that, but we cannot promise a beta release will be free of it. Please keep your own copy of anything you would not want to lose, including Recipe settings you rely on. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by this paragraph.
Photography results vary. Recipe settings, film simulations, sample images, and creative recommendations may produce different results depending on camera model, firmware, lens, lighting, exposure, white balance, editing, display, and user technique.
Recipe Room is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Fujifilm unless we expressly say otherwise. Camera model names, film simulation names, app store names, payment provider names, and other third-party names belong to their respective owners.
Recipe Analyser depends on metadata embedded in the selected original file. Results may be incomplete, unsupported, or inaccurate where metadata is missing, stripped, changed, or not yet mapped. You must review the result before relying on it. Recipe Room does not infer missing settings or guarantee that an analysed Recipe will reproduce a particular photograph.
Camera transfer is available only for camera, firmware, mobile-platform, cable, connection-mode, and setting combinations that Recipe Room supports. Sending a Recipe replaces the existing settings in the selected custom slot. You are responsible for selecting the intended slot, reviewing compatibility changes and overwrite warnings, and keeping a separate record of settings you want to preserve. Recipe Room may change, limit, or withdraw camera-transfer support when a device, firmware, operating system, or third-party protocol changes. Recipe Room is independent third-party software and is not licensed, authorised, endorsed, or supported by Fujifilm. Using third-party software to connect to or control a camera may affect or void Fujifilm's manufacturer warranty. Warranty treatment may depend on the applicable warranty terms, country, claim, and cause of damage, and statutory consumer rights may still apply. Recipe Room cannot guarantee that Fujifilm or a retailer will accept a warranty or repair claim after camera transfer has been used. If you would rather not take that risk, please skip the camera connection and enter the Recipe settings on your camera by hand instead.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Recipe Room will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost content, lost sales, reputational harm, or interruption of business arising from or related to your use of Recipe Room.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, remedies, guarantees, or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Indemnity
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Recipe Room from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses arising from your content, your recipe sales, your use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person's rights.
Ending your use of Recipe Room
You may stop using Recipe Room at any time. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access at any time as described in these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply, including content licenses for existing public or sold content, purchase records, ownership provisions, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity, and enforcement provisions.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and may provide notice in the app, by email, or by another reasonable method. Continuing to use Recipe Room after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer protection law gives you rights that cannot be waived.
